The Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles has a local office in Cordova that is operated by the City. At the local DMV office you can:

  • Apply for/Renew Alaska Driver's License
  • Obtain Alaska Identification Cards
  • Take any Written Tests
  • Take Driver's Road Test (between 9am and 2:30pm on any open days)
  • Take Motorcycle Road Test (weather permitting)
  • Register, Title, and/or Obtain Plates for a Vehicle, Boat, Snowmachine, or ATV
  • Apply for Handicapped Permits

There is no $10 fee charged for renewing your license at the local office, and the local office receives a commission from the State for the services it provides. As an additional benefit, Notary Services are available at the local DMV during office hours.

Please Note: Effective April 2014, all driver licenses and ID cards will be printed in Anchorage. After that date, you will be able to renew your license locally, but it will be issued on a paper license until the printed card is mailed to you by the state.
