Election Information

Municipal Elections are scheduled for March of each year. In general, the designated polling place is Community Room A in the Cordova Center. Information regarding the next regularly scheduled election becomes available in December.

Registered voters may also participate in State and National elections at Cordova polling locations; information is publicized as it becomes available.

Registered voters may apply for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you anytime after January 1st, up until February 28th. The application must be received by fax or email by Feb 28, or postmarked by that date if mailed.

Please note that early voting will be conducted at the City Center in February/March 2023 from 8am – 5pm on the follow dates:

February 14-17, Tuesday through Friday

February 21-24, Tuesday through Friday

February 27-March 3, Monday through Friday

Voter Registration

 

Voter registration applications may be obtained at City Hall or you may register online at the Alaska Division of Elections website. On this site you can also download an election pamphlet for the state ballot and find out information about your voter registration status.

To be qualified to vote in a regular or special city election, a voter must be:

A)  Qualified to vote in state elections and registered to vote in state elections at a residence address within the city limits of Cordova at least thirty days immediately preceding the municipal election;
B)  A resident of the city for thirty days immediately preceding the municipal election; and C) Not disqualified under Article V of the Alaska Constitution.
