NOTICE OF DISPOSAL OF ABANDONED PROPERTY
To: Brad Patterson
On 24 May 2019, the City of Cordova “impounded the following property: F/V Alaska Wanderer, Official No. 524239“for abandoning the Property on City harbor without consent in violation of Cordova Municipal Code 11.28.040.
A person violating CMC 11.28.040 is responsible for the costs of removing the abandoned/junk property and disposal of that property, except under specific circumstances identified in CMC 11.32.070, none of which are present regarding the Property.
The City has received no notice from any person or representative or response to the City’s notice of violation or notice of impoundment posted regarding the Property. No effort has been made by the owner to move, remove or in any way correct the violation(s) regarding the Property. No appeal has been filed or objection raised to the impoundment of the Property by the City or the City’s findings of violations under Cordova Municipal Code justifying such impoundment.
Therefore, in full compliance with both City and State of Alaska law, the Property, which constitutes “abandoned property” under Cordova Municipal Code 11.28.040, was placed for sale at public auction on 30 October 2020, but did not sell. As a result, the City has determined that the Property does not have value that exceeds the costs of the auction and disposition, and intends to destroy and dispose of the Property without further notice. This disposal will occur on or after 02 June 2023.
