Help Support Cordova’s Transportation Projects – Public Comments Due October 29
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is accepting public comments on its draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Two important City of Cordova projects are included in the draft, but the current plan does not show them as fully funded in 2027.
We encourage community members to submit public comments requesting full funding in 2027 for both projects:
- Second Street Reconstruction – Project #32378
- Whitshed Road and Pedestrian Improvements – Project #27049
Both projects have completed design work and are ready to move toward construction. Delaying them due to insufficient funding could increase construction costs over time, ultimately placing a greater financial burden on our community.
Public comments help communicate the importance of these projects and the need to provide funding so they can move forward in 2027.
How to comment: Visit the DOT&PF public comment page:
https://dot.alaska.gov/stwdplng/cip/stip/howtocomment.shtml
The comment period closes Thursday, October 29, 2026.
Please take a few minutes to submit a comment and share this post to help spread the word. Thank you for supporting Cordova’s transportation infrastructure!
