Search Warrant and Organized Effort of Cordova Police Department Results in 5 Arrests and Seizure of Firearms, Meth, and Fentanyl

Thursday, February 2, Cordova Police officers served multiple search warrants at 1.6-mile Whitshed Road as part of a targeted effort to eliminate illegal drugs in Cordova. With the assistance of the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit and Swat Team, Cordova Police Officers searched the property confiscating several firearms and seizing large amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine. No injuries were reported.

Chief of Police, Andrew Goss, shared that CPD Officers led the local investigation which resulted in several search warrants for firearms and drugs, and involvement by the state’s drug unit.  He commended his team stating “I want to express my gratitude to the officers, dispatchers, and my admin assistant at Cordova Police Department. These individuals are by far the best group of men and women that I have worked with. They are very hard-working, dedicated, and focused individuals. They love this community and want to do everything they possibly can to help this community be a safe place to live and raise a family. I am very proud to be a part of such a great team that I call family.”

“These arrests will not likely be the last,” said City Manager, Helen Howarth.  “Chief Goss has made addressing illegal drugs a priority since taking over the Police Department.”

Highly addictive drugs create health and public safety issues. The City and local health partners are addressing the drug issue from both law enforcement and community health perspectives.  Identifying and arresting the people who are supplying and dealing drugs in Cordova is an important step. CCMC and Ilanka Health Center offer addiction assistance for those needing help, and Narcan kits are available throughout the community for emergency overdose response.

If anyone in the community has information to share with the Cordova Police Department, please contact any officer at any time at 907-424-6100.
