Records Retention

City Council, by resolution, has adopted the State of Alaska’s Local Government General Records Retention Schedule version 300.1 (the Schedule) as it’s method of managing and preserving public and historical records.

Alaska Statutes require that the City’s public records are managed in an orderly manner and further requires the City to preserve nonpublic documents that have permanent historical value. The schedule recommends minimum retention periods for administrative, financial, legal, and other historical records.
